New Drama Competition

Estonian Theatre Agency organises new drama competitions in every two years since 1995. The prize money is provided by the Cultural Endowment of Estonia.

The first two contests (1995 and 1997) were held in two rounds and the plays were written during the actual competition. For the first round the participants had to present an idea of a play, the jury selected the best ones and the authors were asked to complete their plays. The winners were selected according to the final versions of the plays. Since 1999 the jury expects for the competition fully finished plays.

In 2002 and 2010 took place an exceptional drama competition. For this years contest the jury expected plays for children and young people.

The financial rights concerning the participants’ plays will remain to the authors.
