Foundation Estonian Theatre Agency started on 1st of January 2008 and was created by Estonian Theatre Union and Estonian Association of Performing Arts Institutions. New agency will continue the work of Estonian Drama Agency and Estonian Theatre Information Centre: dealing with copyright issues of plays, developing Estonian playwriting, gathering and distributing theatre information, introducing Estonian theatre abroad and collecting and publishing of Estonian theatre statistics.

New agency will take over all the contracts made by Estonian Drama Agency in its thirteen years of action and will organize playwriting competitions which started in 1995. Agency will also continue subscribing translations of Estonian original plays.

Second area of action for the new agency is gathering and distributing theatre information. It is our purpose to introduce world theatre for Estonian theatre professionals and Estonian theatre to the world. In addition we administrate the web-page www.teater.ee which in some years should become the main theatre information medium for Estonians.

Agency will also continue the collecting and publishing of repertory and financial statistics of state subsidized theatres which was started three years ago by Estonian Theatre Information Centre.
