The best of young international artists gather in TallinnThe arts festival NEU/NOW, which is connected to the European Capital of Culture Tallinn 2011 program, will be launched in Tallinn on November 17. 35 projects by young artists from 17 different countries are featured in the NEU/NOW Festival in categories of visual arts, design, film, theatre, dance, music and sound. Among the projects are five from Estonia.

The Festival will take place in different galleries and halls of Tallinn Old Town. Films that were selected to the Live Festival can be seen and heard in the Kinomaja, dance in Kanuti Gildi Saal, design and visual arts in Kullo Galerii and in the Disaini- ja Arhitektuurigalerii and music projects can be heard in Mustpeade Maja.
„As an artist, the Festival offers me a chance to acquaint myself to how young artists from abroad work and express themselves. My previous experience is that during such festivals I always get new ideas and often find collaborations for the future,“ said Stella Salumaa, author of the animation „Packed like Sardines“ that was chosen to the NEU/NOW LIVE Festival.

In addition to the Live Festival starting on November 17, the Online Festival, which showcases projects by 135 young future talents from 23 countries was launched in the beginning of October. The NEU/NOW Festival is open to graduating art students and recent graduates of Higher Arts Institutions and Universities which are members of ELIA (European League of Institutes of the Arts), ELIA associate members and non-European members of ELIA. ELIA is an independent membership organization, founded in 1990, which represents approximately 350 institutions across 45 countries.
