This is a story of blind love, betrayal, and revenge. Court jester Rigoletto tries to protect his daughter Gilda from the evil world. Unfortunately he fails to notice how his means in this fight have become inhuman. Blinded by his desire for revenge he sacrifices his own daughter.
Verdi's Rigoletto premiered on 11 March 1851 in Teatro La Fenice, in Venice. The opera is regarded as pivotal in Italian opera history. From the beginning Rigoletto has been extremely successful: it is claimed to be the best Italian musical drama since Monteverdi and is still performed in opera theatres across the world. In Theatre Vanemuine Rigoletto is staged for the fifth time.

In Italian; subtitles in Estonian.
