sõp (root word for friend) + rus (russian) + est (estonian) = sõprusest “about friendship”
Svetlana Grigorjeva, a recent graduate of the University of Tallinn, will present a solo performance focusing on her personal experiences in Estonian-Russian relations. Inspired by her own mixture of Estonian-Russian heritage, Svetlana asks: what kind of life can a “national hermaphrodite” lead? The potential answers can be problematic: neither this nor that, nor the other way around. How can you classify yourself in an environment governed by two less-than-amicable poles? In a space where binary oppositions haven’t disappeared even after having read Foucault?
